FAQ
WINTER
What are the ice and trail conditions?
Every morning, we update the ice conditions on the Domaine Enchanteur Facebook page and on the website widget located at the top right of the site. If weather conditions do not allow us to open, this information is also announced on our Facebook page.
Please note that our trails are located in the forest and consist of natural ice. This is NOT a refrigerated skating rink. With over 25 years of experience, our team resurfaces the trails with a Zamboni several times a day. However, we remain at the mercy of Mother Nature. Rain, snow, and visitor traffic may affect ice conditions throughout the day. That said, this does not take away from the enjoyment of being outdoors, sheltered from the wind. There are 15 km of trails laid out in a labyrinth-style network. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the back of the Domaine, and you can skate for up to 2 hours without getting bored! You may encounter animals while skating. It is also possible to walk along the trails or use the snowshoe trail that loops around the entire Domaine.
Skating on rivers and lakes is strictly prohibited.

Are the trails lit in the evening?
Thanks to a partnership with Tourisme Mauricie, lighting installations were added at the end of 2020 on approximately two-thirds of the Domaine, throughout the forest, allowing visitors to enjoy a unique and original nighttime experience. Please note that the trails are not fully illuminated, which means caution is still required. We recommend bringing a flashlight or headlamp for added safety.
What is the best time to come skating?
The trail labyrinth is so large that you won’t feel like there are many people on the site! However, the quietest times are before 11:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m., as well as on weekdays (outside of holiday periods, of course). The busiest times are on weekends, especially Saturdays between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
- Advantages of coming before 11:00 a.m.: Fewer visitors and excellent ice, as it has been freshly resurfaced overnight and hasn’t yet been used.
- Advantages of coming during the day: Family-friendly atmosphere and possible activities or events.
- Advantages of coming after 5:00 p.m.: Fewer visitors and a special experience skating with the light installations or with a headlamp. If the site has been busy, the ice is resurfaced in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on conditions and the time needed to cover all the trails!
Is it possible to bring your dog?
Yes, as long as your dog is kept on a short leash and you pick up after it. Upon arrival, we will ask you to make a voluntary cash donation. All proceeds go directly to the organization Action Entraide Communautaire de Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel.
Can we eat on site?
We have a restaurant where you’ll find snack-type meals, as well as soups, spaghetti, club sandwiches, and more. You can eat indoors, and picnic tables are also available outdoors.
In addition, La Petite Mijote is a small food cart located outside, offering grilled cheeses, donuts, hot chocolate, and more.
The restaurant opens for lunch and closes at 5:00 p.m., except on Saturdays when it closes at 7:00 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, and La Petite Mijote is closed on Tuesdays.
Also, since your ticket is valid for the entire day, you can go out to eat elsewhere and return to skate afterward!

Where do we put our belongings while skating?
Upon arrival, we will direct you to a building where you can put on your skates or snowshoes and leave your belongings. Please note that we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. At the Pro Shop, you can rent a locker box (your belongings are kept securely behind the cash counter) or a locker (a $5 cash deposit is required).
For your safety, it is strictly forbidden to walk around on skates, even with blade guards, in the parking lot, at reception, or in the shop. Be sure to bring your belongings with you so you don’t have to return to your vehicle!

Is it possible to snowshoe or walk on the trails?
Yes, our trail is now a marked loop of approximately 4.5 km. You can also walk along the trails, but please be careful not to damage the ice with spikes and exercise caution when crossing a skating trail.
Is it possible to feed the animals?
Yes, but only with the Domaine’s feed, for safety reasons. It is available at reception and in dispensers.
Is there a fireplace or fire in the evening?
Yes, we have several areas with fireplaces.
Can we bring a hockey stick?
No, hockey sticks are not allowed.
Do you have a charging station for electric vehicles?
At the moment, we do not have an electric charging station. Charging stations are available at the Town Hall (3860 rue de l’Hôtel-de-Ville) and at the library (3991 rue Mgr Béliveau) in Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel.
Can we sleep on site in our RV?
It is possible to park an RV on site, but only for visiting the Domaine and not for overnight stays. Cooking or having a fire outdoors is strictly prohibited.
Is there a family rate?
We do not have a family package, but we have adjusted our pricing to help families: the adult price remains the same as the last two years, while the price for children under 12 has been reduced by $3, taxes included. Children under 5 still enter for free. We also offer a group rate for 20 or more people. Call 819-378-5946 for more information.
Do you accept the Carte Accompagnement Loisir (Companion Leisure Card)?
Yes. With the Carte Accompagnement Loisir (CAL), as a person with a disability, you do not have to pay for your companion’s admission. The card must be valid, include a photo, and presented at reception.
Why is a “local product” included with my ticket?
The Domaine Enchanteur is located on agricultural land, operated by the Domaine de la Forêt Perdue and protected under the Loi sur la protection du territoire et des activités agricoles (administered by the CPTAQ). This law allows us to let visitors walk the trails and enjoy recreational activities, provided they support agricultural production. Essentially, it helps regulate agritourism activities and ensures that land designated for agriculture is not used for other purposes. For more information, visit the CPTAQ website of the Government of Québec.
When you visit the Domaine Enchanteur, you’re not just skating, seeing the animals, or doing the aerial course—you are making a meaningful contribution. You are helping to protect bee colonies, which in turn supports crop pollination, ensuring the production of high-quality Québec farm products.
In other words, by purchasing honey or mealworms produced by the Domaine de la Forêt Perdue, the company that operates these agricultural lands, you are supporting our work, and as a thank-you, we provide you access to the Domaine. This is why it is not possible to visit the Domaine without purchasing a local product, which is included in the admission price.
This way, you enjoy a beautiful day outdoors in a unique and pleasant setting, and at the same time, you can taste our delicious, 100% pure honey, sold exclusively at the Domaine.

Can you tell me more?
It’s important to know that beekeeping is an expensive and risky activity. In addition to diseases and poor wintering conditions that can wipe out a colony in a single winter (as happened in 2020–2021), the artisanal extraction and jarning of honey—as opposed to industrial production—involves significant operating costs. The Domaine de la Forêt Perdue is a small, family-run, local operation that produces honey from our own fields, without additives, but it is seasonal. Thanks to the activities of Domaine Enchanteur, it provides year-round, permanent employment for several people and contributes to the vitality and development of the region.
Moreover, to ensure that your experience remains fresh year after year, we are constantly developing new activities and installations. Domaine Enchanteur is a unique and original destination, recognized throughout Québec and internationally. We maintain 15 km of ice trails with a Zamboni, a snowshoe trail, an animal park, obstacle courses, and interpretive activities, as well as accommodation, a stocked pond, equipment rental and skate sharpening services, catering, and a restaurant. During the winter season, we are open every day, including school breaks and public holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Both the Domaine de la Forêt Perdue and Domaine Enchanteur are deeply involved in their community. Each year, an “open doors” event allows local families, particularly those in need, to enjoy the Domaine. We also welcome a large number of students from across Québec who come to learn about the world of bees and support their preservation. Not to mention our sponsorships and various social initiatives.
We hope these few words help you better understand our activities and how we operate. Visiting Domaine Enchanteur means experiencing something original, sharing strong emotions and sensations, creating lasting memories, supporting local businesses, and contributing to a better future for our planet. For all this, THANK YOU!
